The Alabama 100 book

In The Alabama 100 Best Recipes, Restaurants & Road Trips, I set out to discover the best dishes from restaurants across Alabama during the 2024 Year of Alabama Food. This book features 100 favorite restaurant recipes, along with my road trip tips on where to go and what to eat when you get there.

The book is divided into three sections:

1. Two Days Away: Weekend getaway suggestions with tips on accommodations and food in cities like Huntsville, Birmingham, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, and more.

2. Alabama Favorites: A celebration of Alabama’s beloved dishes like sweet tea, fried chicken, and shrimp and grits. Includes a special essay on cornbread by Sean Dietrich (Sean of the South) and a gumbo recipe from Lucy Buffett, the “gumbo queen.”

3. Cookbook: Features the top 100 recipes from locally owned restaurants, many of which are on the Alabama Department of Tourism’s prestigious “100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama” list.
